UNDERWATER WEDDING

KRADAN ISLAND was the place for "The Underwater Wedding Ceremony" from year 2000 to 2004, to remind the rest of the world that the Underwater Wedding Ceremony take place in Trang province every Valentine's Day at  Kradan island with its pure white sand, clean blue sea and natural environment, is the location where the ceremony is taken place.                                                 

Partly due to its widely publicized "Largest Underwater Wedding Ceremony" which earns it an entry in the Guinness Book of Records, Koh Kradan is now one of the best known islands. The innovative 'weddings underwater' first launched in 1997, is now an annual Valentine's Day event which attracts more people every year, who sign marine marital commitments in Scuba gear at a depth of 12 meters. This ceremony is held for the first time as a part of the Underwater Wedding Ceremony in order to fully complete the Thai traditional wedding ceremony. This tradition is believed to bring peace and long lasting relationship to the couples.

The Underwater marriage registration  will be held 12 meters under the sea in front of  Kradan island. The brides and grooms, separated  will dive down into the blue sea, filled with colorful fish school, to the white sand ocean floor. There, they will meet with the district officer who will witness and approve their marriage certificate. All prospective newly-weds holding an international divers license may participate.

THE  CEREMONY YEAR  2010

The Trang Chamber of Commerce in association with the Trang Province, Trang Municipality Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International as well as other participating local authorities and private sector organisations - have cooperatively launched the 14th Anniversary of "Trang Underwater Wedding Ceremony 2010" event to promote tourism opportunities in the province.

The event will be held during 12-14 February 2010 at Pak Meng Beach - one of the best known sand beaches with the peaceful atmosphere and the aligned Koh Meng as its background. The project is aimed to further promote the truly spectacular natural seaside and marine resources - with the warm atmosphere of love giving to each other under the concept of "Romantic Destination", as well as the beauty of a symbolic flower of the province named "Sri-Trang", whose pale violet blossoms in season are pleasantly ubiquitous everywhere .

Trang is the province endowed with charming tourism treasures combining several chests of jewels given by the nature numerous tropical rain forest valleys, distinctive and endorsing-imagination limestone stalactites and stalagmites, and spectacular waterfalls with purely natural water rushed from limestone caves. Being located along the coast of the Andaman Sea, Trang is an origin of an amazingly well-endowed coral reef, where is the habitat of aquatic plants and marine creatures. During the Trang Underwater Wedding event, when no disturbing monsoon emerges, the province's splendidly scenic resources simultaneously show their natural beauty, especially the sweet blossoms of 'Sri-Trang' flowers, to warmly welcome tourists worldwide.
